Devin the Dude, is an American hip hop recording artist from Houston, Texas. He is perhaps best known for his unique rapping style, his long career signed to Rap-A-Lot Records, as well as his 2002 songs "Lacville '79" and "Doobie Ashtray".

Free Press Summer Fest is an annual two-day music festival in Houston, Texas.  Bun B performed at the 6th annual Free Press Summer Fest on May 31, 2014 at the premiere of the Welcome To Houston Set, which featured Bun B, Paul Wall, Slim Thug, Z-Ro, Devin the Dude, and Mike Jones.  The festival featured over 80 artists on the lineup, and 2014 was larger than any previous Years.  Weather caused the festival to perform an emergency evacuation but guests were quickly allowed back in.  Devin the Dude's helicopter drone made an appearance before he did, where he operated the drone from backstage while doing his signature DJ scratch with his voice and his alien impersonation.  Devin is known for his different vocal techniques and impersonations, as seen in his album "Suite 420".  The Welcome to Houston set showed a huge turnout which brought in close to 60,000 viewers.  When looking out into the crowd from the stage, it seemed as if the audience was never ending.  This huge turnout for the Welcome to Houston set brought them back out for the 2015 Free Press Summer Fest.
